I'd opine the "MW" number is likely an MWA Speaker Parts part number
Regardless of the number, the irregular/lumpy appearance of the pulp on the back side is correct.
It's an open molded cone like the 411 cone and several JBL cones like the 2235.
I think Hawley made many of the cones for Altec, and likely also made them for some of the repair parts vendors Like MWA, Waldom, and others. In some cases they were probably the same cones with different numbers. I think they're still in business today, and probably still using egg carton technology to mold speaker cones.
